Welcome to Frontiers of Circuit QED and Optomechanics (FCQO18)

It is a great pleasure to announce the International Conference on Frontiers of Circuit QED and Optomechanics 2018,which will be held at the Institute of Science and Technology Austria (IST Austria) just 30 minutes from Vienna, on February 12-14, 2018. The conference is organized by IST Austria and chaired by Dr. Shabir Barzanjeh and Prof. Johannes Fink from the Quantum Integrated Devices lab.

FCQO18 aims to attract and engage leading scientists working with solid state quantum devices comprising electrical, mechanical or optical hybrid circuits. It is a perfect opportunity to get an overview over this thriving new field of quantum physics and quantum optics with applications ranging form computation, simulation, communication, metrology and sensing. 

We aim to bring together the top researchers in Circuit QED, Electro/Optomechanics and hybrids systems to present both theoretical and experimental aspects, with a strong emphasis on the most cutting-edge experimental progress. Every attendant is invited to present a poster and a few outstanding abstracts will be selected for hot topic focus talks. We hope to create an interactive platform for the exchange of new ideas and we would like to inspire a conference series on the topic.

Poster Session

Please note that all posters have now been selected for poster presentation. Presenter of Focus talks were also notified. Please let us know if you have not received any feedback on your abstract submission.

We kindly ask you to put up your poster after on-site registration. Please bring your posters in portrait format A0 (84,1 cm x 118,9 cm or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches). You will find your respective poster number in the booklet which will be sent out before the conference. Your location will be displayed on a map at the conference venue. Please take down your poster after the poster session.

Registration

The registration deadline is January 22, 2018. The registration fee for students and postdocs is 250 EUR, for PI’s 350 EUR, and for industry 500 EUR. It includes conference material, lunches, coffee breaks, dinners, a booklet, the use of conference facilities and travel in the shuttle bus to and from the venue. Please indicate in the registration form below whether you intend on using our shuttle buses.

Accommodation is not included in the fee. We strongly recommend to book a room at one of the hotels listed on our website. Please make sure to e-mail the hotel as soon as possible. Rooms are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Note: The registration is finalized only after the payment has been completed. Please check the announcement on the screen carefully after you signed up, as it will confirm your registration. Airport pick up and drop off is arranged for speakers only.

Abstract Submission

The abstract submission deadline is January 22, 2018. All submitted abstracts will be considered for contributed talks and posters. The application deadline for travel stipends is Dec 30, 2017.

We will offer laboratory tours at IST Austria on Monday February 12 and Wednesday February 14.

Monday, February 12
The dinner will take place at the IST Austria Cafeteria and will be followed by the poster session in the Mondi Hallway, Mondi 1 and Ball Room of the IST Austria campus.

Tuesday, February 13
Everyone who has registered for the excursion to Vienna will be picked up at 15:30. There will be a 1h guided tour at the famous Upper Belvedere in Vienna. It houses the impressive collection of Austrian art dating from the Middle Ages to the present day. At the heart of the display is the world‘s largest Gustav Klimt collection. After a 15-minute walk from the Belvedere, there will be dinner at restaurant Salmbräu starting around 18:30. The bus will return to Klosterneuburg, IST Austria and Marienhof at 22:00. Please note that you might have to pay for some drinks.

Wednesday, February 14
The concluding dinner will take place at the Redlinger Hütte, which is a nice 20-minute walk through the woods from IST Austria. Please let us know should you have difficulties with walking and we will arrange for a taxi transfer.

We kindly ask you to put up your poster after on-site registration. Please bring your posters in portrait format A0 (84,1 cm x 118,9 cm or 33.1 inches x 46.8 inches). You will find your respective location and number on a map displayed at the conference venue as well as in the conference booklet which will be sent out as pdf before the meeting.

Cancellation

Please note that our cancellation policy does not apply for hotel reservations. Please contact your hotel to receive information about cancellation possibilities.  

Cancellation up to 1 month before the conference starts: refund of registration fee minus €50. Cancellation between 1 month and 2 weeks before the conference starts: refund of registration fee minus €100. No cancellation after 2 weeks before the conference.

Getting to / from IST Austria

The Institute of Science and Technology Austria is located in Maria Gugging, Klosterneuburg, 18 km outside of Vienna.

We will organize special conference buses going to IST Austria each day in the morning and returning after the talks/dinners.

Conference shuttle for everyone staying at Hotel Marienhof:

Please note that if you are staying at Hotel Marienhof, the hotel will provide transfers to IST Austria at 8:30 in the mornings and pick up from IST Austria at 22:00 on Monday and Wednesday evenings. For the excursion to Vienna on Tuesday, the conference shuttle will drop you off at Hotel Marienhof directly after the dinner.
